James Russell Gorman


CUT BANK - James Russell Gorman, 82, of Cut Bank, an Army veteran and retired oilfield worker, died of natural causes Friday at the veterans' hospital in Fort Harrison.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cut Bank, followed by a lunch at the church. Hagler-Anderson Mortuary of Helena handled cremation.
He is survived by his wife, Edith (Omsberg) Gorman; his children, James Robert Gorman, Patrick (Lindy) Proue of Helena, Mont., Vickie (Bob) Fugle of Anaconda, Mont., Rodney (Michelle) Gorman of Southern Pines, N.C., and Glen Gorman of Cut Bank; a sister, Joan (Wells) Lamey of Havre, Mont.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Rae.
Jim was born in Cleveland, Mont., on March 24, 1927. He attended school in Chinook, Mont.
He enlisted in the Army and served in the Pacific during and after World War II. Following his discharge from the service, Jim worked the oilfields in several states.
He married Edith Joy Omsberg Proue on May 21, 1959, in Havre. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in May.
Jim enjoyed playing card games and bingo, and spending time with his family. He especially took great pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
