Julia Hagen

Malta - Julia M. Hagen, 82, formerly of Zortman, died from natural causes Monday at the

Phillips County Good Samaritan Center, where she had lived since November.

Rosary will be cited at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Adams Memorial Chapel

in Malta. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St Mary's Catholic Church in Malta with

burial in the Zortman Cemetery.

On Aug. 24, 1909, she was born to Joseph and Margaret (Latray)

Sharette in Zortman, where she attended schools. She also received her schooling at the St Paul's

Mission School and then moved to Chewawa, Ore. where she lived for 6 years.

She then returned to Zortman and cooked at the Zortman Cafe and cleaned cabins.

In 1929 she married Albert Morgan in Malta. They lived beside the

Missouri River until Fort Peck Dam was built and they moved to Beauchamp in south Phillips County.

They later retired and moved to Zortman. He died in 1960.

She remarried in 1962 to Palmer Hagen. They lived at Musselshell, Joliet and Hilger.

He died in 1970. She has since lived in Malta. For 6 years, she worked for Mrs. Lynn

Kelly nursing and cooking, but retired in 1979.

Survivors include a son, Buddy James Morgan of Vaughn, a daughter, Arleda "Sweetie" Kolczak of

Malta; a brother James Sharette of Raymond, ND; a sister, Clara Janda of Sun City, Az; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
