   Susie J. McCartney, 84, formerly of Lewistown, died Monday morning in Columbus, after a lenghty illness.

   She was born Oct 29, 1893 in Kendall, the daughter of Charles and Adeline Rasor.

   She attended school in Kendall and married Tom McCartney in Lewistown on Feb 14, 1911. They moved to Idaho where he worked.

   She later moved back to Montana to work at the Grass Range Hotel. In 1915, she and her son, Charles, and her brothers and sisters moved to their uncle's homestead near Grass Range.

   She remained on the homestead for 54 years until 1968 when she moved to Lewistown. She has lived in Billings and Columbus for the last four years.

   While in Columbus, she wrote articles for the Columbus newspaper, made quilts for all her grandchildren and has been a great inspiration for them.

   She was a member of St Leo's Catholic Church, Chipeaugh Home Democratic Club, St Anthony's Guild and Eagles Auxiliary.

   Survivors include two sons, Charles McCartney, Forsyth, and Glen McCartney, Wellington, Colo.; three sisters, Maude Rowe, Denton, Mrs Annie Biallas, Spokane, Wa and Mrs Rose Martin, California, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and

numerous nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services will be held at St Leo's Catholic Church Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Father Joseph Diekhans officiating.

   Burial with be at Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited tonight at 8 p.m. at the Creel-Morrison-Retz Chapel.
