Thomas N. Majerus

VALIER - Thomas N. Majerus, 56, of Valier, a farmer, died of complications from cancer Sunday at his home.

A vigil service is 7 this evening at St. Francis Catholic Church in Valier. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Catholic Church, with burial in Lakeview Cemetery. Pondera Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years Mary (Nelson) Majerus of Valier; a daughter, Keri Majerus of Spokane; sons Doug Majerus of Attleboro, Mass., and Kevin Majerus of Bozeman; sisters Marjean Yates of Eugene, Ore., and Betty Hibbert of Helena; and brothers William Majerus of Federal Way, Wash., Larry Majerus of Troy, Mich., and John Majerus of Valier.

Tom was born Oct. 2, 1948, in Conrad to Norbert and Ina Ann (Brophy) Majerus. He was raised in the Valier area and graduated from Valier High School in 1966. He went to Carroll College and graduated in 1970 with a degree in political science. Tom taught in Crow Agency for one year and worked for Montana Testing Lab in Great Falls for two years. He returned to the family farm in Valier in 1973 and remained until the time of his death.

He married Mary Nelson on June 18, 1977, in Fort Benton.

Tom was a member of the Valier Jaycee's, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He served on the Co-op Supply Center of Valier Board and the Horizon Lodge Board. Tom enjoyed golfing and farming.
